Cool, dry air will meet warm, humid air on Wednesday, setting the stage for around of severe weather from portions of the Northeast into the southernPlains.Jet stream energy will be present aloft helping to create destructivethunderstorms. Thunderstorms will be capable of damaging winds in excess of 60mph and large hail stones the size of quarters to golf balls. Torrential rainand frequent lightning will also accompany the intense thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms will threaten cities such as: Cleveland, Ohio; Muncie, Ind.; andKansas City, Mo., by early in the afternoon with the threat shifting slowlysoutheast with time into Pittsburgh, Pa.; Cincinnati, Ohio; St. Louis, Mo.; andOklahoma City, Okla., by late in the evening. Interstates 79, 70, 77, 90 and 80will be impacted with ponding from heavy downpours.

The storms will weaken as they lose instability from daytime heating laterWednesday night but still produce some downpours and frequent lightning as theymove into the lower Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley.
