The area outside the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center looked like a sea of red, teal and blue. Margaret Anderson Kelliher supporters, wearing red, chanted "M-A-K, M-A-K, M-A-K!" as delegates entered the DFL state convention. "We are fired up," Kelliher told supporters. "I am fired up. We are going to knock it out of the park!" The crowd roared. Kelliher's supporters then held a short march around the parking lot, where they ran square into blue-shirted Paul Thissen supporters. As Thissen addressed the crowd, Kelliher's march came to a halt as a few Thissen backers fanned out to block her supporters. As Thissen supporters chanted "Tee-SEN, Tee-SEN, Tee-SEN," Kelliher's people walked by silently, single-file. R.T. Rybak fans erupted with cheers and "R.T." chants as he arrived with his family. "This is going to be the day we win Minnesota," Rybak said, wearing a teal tie to match his campaign colors. Then like a high school football coach, Rybak huddled with friends and fans for one final cheer. Once the cheer ended, Rybak joined supporters and followed them into the convention center.
