A national pilot shortage has affected small, regional airports across Minnesota, and the communities they serve. If airlines can't staff the smaller planes that typically serve these communities, they scale back service. That leaves communities scrambling to build their local economies -- without a critical transportation link to the rest of the world. Recently, the MInneapolis-St. Paul International Airport became one of the first hub airports to join an alliance of industry players looking to combat the problem.
