A central Minnesota plastic-drainpipe manufacturer was fined $17,700 for wastewater and stormwater violations, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency announced this week. Prinsco Inc., located in Prinsburg, was inspected by the MPCA in 2010. The agency found that the company was discharging nearly 10,000 gallons of industrial wastewater per day into Chetomba Creek without the required state and federal permits. The wastewater was discharged from a cooling system to the creek by way of drain tile. The company also lacked the permits needed for managing industrial stormwater. Prinsco has since obtained the proper permits, is handling its stormwater appropriately and has started collecting required water samples.
