Brainerd area: Bass and walleye action has been very good on most days on the larger lakes in the area. For walleyes, the best locations have been near the weed lines in 14 to 18 feet of water. As the water temperatures have risen, bass have become more aggressive with most presentations producing fish.
Fairmont area: Fishing on the chain of lakes in Fairmont's city limits has been solid. Budd Lake is producing panfish, largemouth bass and catfish. George Lake is also yielding largemouth bass, while Hall Lake is also seeing a good catfish bite. Anglers on Fox Lake (near Sherburn) are also catching good numbers of catfish.
Grand Marais area: Hungry Jack Lake has been seeing good walleye and smallmouth action. Cascade Lake, Gunflint Lake and Two Island Lake are also seeing a good walleye bite, while Devil Track Lake and Poplar Lake are producing good smallmouth bass numbers. Leo Lake, Kimball Lake and Mink Lake are yielding rainbow trout.
International Falls area: The Rainy River has seen a fair amount of walleye action. The best action has been around the faster-moving waters above and below the Ranier Rapids, below the dam at International Falls, and near the confluence of the larger tributaries. Anglers on Rainy Lake are finding walleyes around the submerged structure in deeper waters.
Otter Tail County: Fishing has been good for most species of fish throughout the county. Panfish and bass, which are usually near the schools of panfish, have been biting. Bass are also being found near vegetation. Anglers are fishing near the shallow flats with patches of weeds and sand, as well as the deep weed lines, islands and points for walleyes.
Southwest metro: Lake Waconia is producing sunfish in 10 to 15 feet and crappies on the back side of the island in 15 to 20 feet. Lake Minnewashta, Pierson Lake and Lake Zumbra are producing pike. Bass are biting on the weed lines of Wasserman Lake, Lake Auburn, Lake Bavaria, Lake Riley and Wasserman Lake.
