With a skiathlon silver medal, 37-year-old Marit Bjoergen of Norway broke the Winter Games record for most most medals won by a woman. She had been tied with fellow cross-country skiers Raisa Smetanina of the Soviet Union and Stefania Belmondo of Italy.
