A Minneapolis man died after being shot in north Minneapolis on Friday night, police said.

On Sunday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Carl Maurice Woodard, 55, of Minneapolis. He died of a gunshot wound to the torso, identified as a homicide.

Officers responding to reported gunfire in the 3500 block of Penn Avenue N. found Woodard "with life-threatening gunshot wounds sitting in a vehicle," police said in a news release.

He died at the scene. No arrests had been made, and no other details were immediately available.
