A 37-year-old man died Tuesday after he was found by police with a gunshot wound behind an empty residence in south Minneapolis.
Officers responded at about 2:14 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a shooting in the 2400 block of 16th Avenue S. They provided medical care to the victim until paramedics arrived and took him to HCMC, where he died.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the man and cause of death, police said in a news release. Homicide officers are investigating.
The death put the homicide toll in Minneapolis at 46 so far this year, according to a Star Tribune database. That compares with 69 in the same time period last year.
