DeLaSalle and Holy Angels both made it to the Class 4A state tournament last November, but they didn't look like they belonged on the same field in a season opener Saturday. The Stars imposed their will at the line of scrimmage from the get-go and opened up a big running lane to set up a 74-yard touchdown rush from speedster Tommy Kraus. The DeLaSalle offense sputtered throughout the contest until J.T. Baker's 37-yard rush and subsequent touchdown reception in the third quarter.
Key of the game: Holy Angels dominated the line of scrimmage. Stars quarterback Joseph Heimbold ran the read-option deftly, creating major rushing opportunities for himself, Kraus and Danny Hoffman. The trio combined for five touchdowns.

One thing to know: Hoffman is a player to watch on both sides of the ball — and in the classroom. He ran the ball hard, caught a touchdown pass and recorded two interceptions. The senior said he is being recruited by Ivy League schools and hopes to play football at a college with rigorous academics.
