I seem to recall that people were discouraged by "Snakes on a Plane," another movie inspired by its title. This critic laments what could have been:

Because if there's anything that has the promise to force a reevaluation of the things we believe about society, it's Hobo with a Shotgun. The author is probably right about missed opportunities:

Yes. But let's remember it's a movie called Hobo with a Shotgun. No one who goes to see it wants Social Commentary. They want Rutger Hauer shooting everything. Then again, if you look at the trailer, you'll see it's quite a deep, contemplative movie. And realistic, too. Every maternity ward I've ever visited has a bum delivering a soliloquy to the newborns:

Aside from Hauer, and the retro typeface, the best part of the trailer is the 80s-style movie music at the end. Perfect. By the way, the entire movie is based on a fake trailer, which we can't show for NSFW language. This looks better, frankly, unless you're really into that "grindhouse" exploitation cinema. I.e., cheap 'n' bloody.
