Hennepin County Medical Center went into a rare lockdown Saturday after a report of a person with a gun.
Police were called to HCMC's Red Building off 8th Street and Park Avenue in downtown Minneapolis just after 11 a.m. after two visitors had a dispute, and one claimed to have a gun, police spokesman John Elder said.
The hospital went into a lockdown, preventing anyone from entering the building, while police searched the building. Elder said the suspect had left by the time police arrived and that officers did not find a gun. The hospital reopened a couple of hours later.
"The safety procedures we have in place as law enforcement and the hospital went off beautifully," he said.
