Senior guard Kenisha Bell of the Gophers was named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 watch list, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Friday.
She is one of three players on the midseason list not named to the preseason top 30.
Bell is averaging a team-high 18.5 points, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game for the No. 18 Gophers. And her 6.5 rebounds per game rank second on the team.
Bell has scored 20 points or more seven times this season.
U-Iowa dual meet sold out
The Gophers wrestling dual meet against No. 4-ranked Iowa at noon Sunday at Maturi Pavilion has sold out.
It's the first wrestling sellout since Feb. 9, 2014, when the Gophers toppled No. 1 Penn State 18-17 for a share of the 2014 Big Ten dual meet championship.
This will be the 104th meeting between the two border rivals.
The No. 7 Gophers (8-1, 1-0 Big Ten) are 28-74-1 in the series; the last Gophers victory over the Hawkeyes was Jan. 25, 2014, by a score of 19-15.
Iowa is 6-0, including a conference win over Purdue.
Four Gophers win events
Kelli Schmidt of the Gophers won the 800-meter run (2:11.32) and Lindsey Greenlund won the mile (5:01.85) in the Nebraska Graduate Classic, the women's team's first indoor track and field meet of the season. Both are sophomores, Schmidt from Wilmette, Ill., Greenlund from Rochester, where she attended Mayo High School.
On the men's side, the Gophers had three individual champions. Evan Ferlic won the 3,000-meter run (8:24.32), Obsa Ali the mile (4:13.88) and Kieran McKeag the weight throw (66-½). Ali is a senior, the other two are sophomores.
Ferlic competed for Mounds Park Academy, Ali for Richfield and McKeag for Apple Valley.
