An emergency medical technician (EMT) who stole about $15,300 from the Willmar Fire Department was reprimanded by the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board in November, a board order stated. Chad Michael Johnson was the department's head treasurer when the thefts occurred starting in 2008, the order said. He was convicted of felony theft by swindle in May and was ordered to pay $8,789 in restitution to the department, court records show. Johnson, who had worked for the fire department for 12 years, left in 2010 and got a job with an ambulance service. In addition to the reprimand, Johnson must take an ethics class, write a report about what he learned and notify emergency medical service supervisors of the disciplinary action.
