Job: Owner of Artique Interiors, 1607 Hennepin Av. S.

Annual earnings: Does not have a clear idea, because she just bought the store in September. She said most of the money she earns is being put back into the store.

Education: Undergraduate degree in economics and Chinese at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She spent her last two semesters at Peking University in Beijing, where she became fluent in Chinese and gained an appreciation for Chinese antiques and artwork.

Last major purchases: Bought home furnishings, artwork and accessories in China to build up inventory.

Next major purchase: More furniture and artwork from Asia, as well as artwork of local artists.

Investments/savings plans: The store is her investment. "[It is] a place where some people can learn about other culture and its history," she said.

Advice for those thinking about starting their own business: "Have patience with it. It's really a balancing act. Find something you're interested in and keep with it."
