Minnesota native Louie Anderson will appear in a "Laugh Out Loud New Year's Eve" celebration at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center.

Anderson, a two-time Emmy winner who rose to stardom after appearing on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" in 1984, relates stories about growing up in Minnesota as one of 11 children of an alcoholic father. Comedy Central has named Anderson one of the "100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time." He also has appeared in specials for both HBO and Showtime and films including "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Tickets are $99.95 for meet-and-greet access, and $29.95 to $69.95 for the show.

Book group reading "Florist's Daughter" "The Florist's Daughter" by Patricia Hampl will be the book under discussion by the Robert Trail Library Book Discussion Group at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at the library, 14395 S. Robert Trail in Rosemount.
