Midtown Global Market stayed largely intact during the south Minneapolis riots as tenants and neighbors guarded it from vandals each night, and it has become a hub of community donations and support for hundreds of people by day. Now, the market is plotting an uncertain future as the corridor it helped revitalize nearly 15 years ago in the Phillips neighborhood faces millions of dollars in damage. One example is Mercado Central, an anchor on that stretch of Lake Street which will need help to rebuild.
Photojournalist Glen Stubbe has been chief political photographer for the Star Tribune since 2011 and was business photographer and photo editor before that. He was named Visual MN Photographer of the Year twice in a row, first in 2015, and then combined 2016-2017.
