Thirteen athletics teams at the University of Minnesota have received public recognition awards for their Academic Progress Rates.
The awards are given each year to collegiate programs scoring in the top 10 percent nationally in each sport based on their most recent multiyear APR.
Only four schools, none of them public institutions like Minnesota, had more teams earning APR awards.
Six of the honored Gophers teams were in men's sports: baseball, cross-county, gymnastics, tennis, track and field and wrestling.
Seven were women's sports teams: golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
"To place more than half of our programs in the top 10 percent in the nation is truly something of which we can all be proud," Gophers athletic director Norwood Teague said in a statement.
