See more of the story

This summer isn't even over and yet here we are, searching for next summer's novel to be serialized in the pages of the Star Tribune.

The first four--Mary Logue's "Giving Up the Ghost"; Cary Griffith's "Savage Minnesota"; Megan Marsnik's "Under Ground"; and this summer's "Stone Lake" by Richard Horberg--have been so much fun, each completely diffrent from the next. (A ghost story, a mystery, a historical novel, a small-town journey.)

Readers followed along in print each day, caught up online, or purchased the e-book for $3.99.

So now we are looking for the next one. Maybe yours?

Manuscripts must be original and unpublished (either in print or digitally). Minnesota settings and authors are preferred but not mandatory--anyone can submit.

Do not send the whole book. (This is important.) Just send the first chapter (e-mail only, no hard copies) to books@startribune.com

If we love it, we'll ask for more.

Deadline is Oct. 31.

I can't wait to see what you send!
