A lack of energy wasn't a problem when the Wild returned to the ice Saturday after its five-day break.
But maintaining the zip that headlined its 5-2 win over the Lightning Monday when it hosts the Senators will be the team's next challenge.
"We talked about it on the ice," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "We talked about it in the room, and I'm sure we'll talk about it again tomorrow."
Boudreau mentioned sloppy play and turnovers as being a trend among teams in their first game back after the bye week before the Wild faced the Lightning, but the team avoided both in one of its most complete efforts of the season.
"I think that was as good as our team can play, and I thought we were sharp," he said. "We were enthusiastic. … The practice the day before was really enthusiastic. The pregame skate was the same way. It would have been brutal if we didn't come out and play with a lot of energy the way that we did."
Winger Mikael Granlund was the only player absent from Sunday's session.
"He's just a little under the weather," Boudreau said. "He should be OK tomorrow, I'm hoping."
With Granlund missing, winger Chris Stewart took his spot on the top line next to winger Jason Zucker and captain Mikko Koivu. The rest of the team's lines remained the same, and that's likely how the team will skate against the Senators when it vies to extend its point streak to six games in its second-to-last game before another round of rest arrives – this time via the All-Star break.
"It'd be pretty hard to change the lineup after yesterday's game," Boudreau said.
