Pike St.

Playwright and performer Nilaja Sun writes for TV ("Madam Secretary," "The Good Wife," "30 Rock"), but Twin Cities audiences will get to see Sun indulge in her first love. Her solo play "Pike St." sketches three generations of a Puerto Rican family on Manhattan's Lower East Side as they prepare for a hurricane. The play has been met with praise. The New York Times said Sun brings her characters to life "with a radiant grace that makes her virtuosity seem as natural as breathing," and the Washington Post called her performance "one of the greater acts of humanity" you're likely to see onstage. (Opens 7:30 p.m. Wed. Ends June 18. Pillsbury House Theatre, 3501 Chicago Av. S., Mpls. $5-$25. 612-825-0459, pillsburyhouseandtheatre.org)
