Newt Gingrich made a pledge to the American people this week in an effort to gain support for his campaign.

If you have not seen it, he pledged to "uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others."

Didn't he make this vow when he got married? Is it somehow more relevant now that he is running for president?

This pledge makes it even more clear that a vow or a pledge is nothing more to Gingrich than hollow words designed to deceive someone.
