There's no such thing as bad publicity - right?

Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is set to become perhaps the most scrutinized head coach in Conference USA football history when he takes the helm at Florida Atlantic next month. But before any signing day, any offseason drill or any kickoff, Owls fans in Boca Raton are finding out a whole lot about their new ball coach.

Kiffin, who graduated from Bloomington Jefferson in 1994, is already known as the former head coach of the Raiders and for his rocky-at-best stints at Tennessee and USC. But in an entertaining peek behind the curtain from Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel we learn a whole lot more about the otherwise reserved Kiffin.

"I'm trying to be boring," Kiffin tells Thamel, before acknowledging he wasn't succeeding.

Thamel spent a day last week house hunting with Kiffin in Boca Raton, where he got Kiffin to open up about Alabama coach Nick Saban, his three sanction-filled seasons at USC and other aspects of the "Kiffin Factor."

And while we're dishing on the former Jaguars quarterback, he missed the Alabama team bus. Again.
