A collision between a utility vehicle and a car on Hwy. 55 in western Minnesota on Saturday left a man dead and three people hurt, including two girls ages 11 and 13, the State Patrol said.

No one was wearing seat belts, according to the patrol. The accident occurred at 7:55 p.m. near Wennersborg Road in Douglas County, between Kensington and Hoffman.

The utility vehicle, a John Deere Gator, was headed southeast on Hwy. 55 when it turned east to go down a side road and crossed in front of the northwest-bound car, the State Patrol said.

Killed was Patrick D. Anderson, 45, of Hoffman, who was driving the Gator, the patrol said. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the patrol. No alcohol use was detected, the patrol said.

Injured in the car were a 21-year-old Kensington man who was driving, and his two young passengers, both of Hoffman. The man, who was seriously hurt, was at St. Cloud Hospital, according to the patrol. The girls went to Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the patrol added.
