St. Cloud State product Heather Miller-Koch is in 19th place after Day 1 of the heptathlon. Miller-Koch accumulated 3,630 points through the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters Friday. Great Britain's Jessica Ennis-Hill leads the seven-event competition with 4,057 points, with Belgium's Nafissatou Thiam second at 3,985 and Barbados' Akela Jones third at 3,964. Barbara Nwaba is the top American, in 11th with 3,777 points. The final three events — the long jump, javelin throw and 800 meters — will be contested Saturday.
