Open houses, orientations for back-to-school

Every school in District 196 has scheduled a back-to-school event in August or September, including open houses, orientation sessions and information nights.

On Aug. 20 and 21, elementary students have the chance to have a one-on-one meeting at their school, where they can take a literacy assessment to get a jump-start on the school year.

These meetings must be scheduled by a parent or guardian by going to the school website and clicking on "Schedule a Summer Literacy Assessment." Times will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with some schools offering additional assessment slots on other days.

For information on any back-to-school events, call your child's school.
