Democratic U.S. Sen. Tina Smith easily won her special election, while her Democratic colleague, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, won a third term overwhelmingly. They did better than some Midwestern colleagues, with Senate Democrats losing in North Dakota, Indiana and Missouri. Republicans have likely expanded their U.S. Senate majority to 55.
