WASHINGTON — The Senate has confirmed President Barack Obama's choice of Nicholas Rasmussen to be director of the National Counterterrorism Center at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The nomination was approved by voice vote late Tuesday.

Rasmussen is currently the deputy director, a post he has held since 2012. He served on the National Security Council from 2007 to 2012, where he was a special assistant to the president and senior director for counterterrorism.

Obama nominated Rasmussen last month to replace Matt Olsen, who is resigning.
