After a week of lengthy delays that sometimes added 30 minutes to the morning commute, drivers who use Cedar Avenue will likely rejoice with the news that construction on the northbound lanes is coming to an end.

A MnDOT spokeswoman said the cones and barrels should be picked up sometime tonight or Saturday. That means all three lanes from 138th Street to Diffley Road in Apple Valley and Eagan should be open for Monday's morning's rush.

It's likely to be better, but there could still "be some random lane closures" for jobs such as restriping and final clean up, said MnDOT's Kirsten Klein.

The news isn't quite as good for southbound drivers. Two lanes will remained closed through mid-October as the pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction project rolls on.
