Erin Fallert has 322 kills this season and averages 4.6 kills per set for Concordia Academy, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A. The 2014 all-state outside hitter hopes to lead her team back to the state tournament.

Q: What makes your kill shots so effective?

A: [Elisabeth Tramm] really gets me some great balls to hit. She's a really great, hard worker. I also think that I have a lot of ball placement.

Q: How does this season compare to last year, so far?

A: We had a lot of returning players, and that has helped us a lot to kind of pick up where we left off last year.

Q: How is it having your mom (Pam Fallert) as an assistant coach?

A: I like it. She's a really great coach. She has a lot of volleyball knowledge, especially since she used to play at Concordia.

Q: What will it take to make it back to state?

A: A lot of teamwork and not looking past opponents that we think we can beat. We have to be steady and play our game.

Q: What do you remember about the state tournament (in 2014)?

A: I remember being, honestly, amazed that we had actually gotten that far. It was just so exciting to get the opportunity to play in that big of an arena.
