Drake, Charlotte Hannaford died on February 3, 2006 at home in St. Paul, MN. She was born on May 8, 1927, a daughter of Foster Hannaford and Alice Ide Habersham Hannaford. While living in Winnetka, Illinois, she attended North Shore Country Day School and then studied art and psychology at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY. Charlotte married John Nelson Day of Bronxville, NY in 1950 and raised a family with him in Henderson, NV, Bronxville, NY, and Steubenville, OH. She moved to Brookside, NJ where she lived until 1977 when she married Carl Bigelow Drake, Jr., and returned to St. Paul. Charlotte and Carl have also enjoyed spending time at their homes in Boca Grande, FL, and on the Brule River in northern Wisconsin. Charlotte loved sports and was active in tennis, golf, and curling. She enjoyed spending time in her gardens and collecting seashells. She was active in a number of organizations, notably The Schubert Club, The Minnesota Symphony, and The Garden Club of America. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Carl B. Drake, Jr.; and her children, Douglas Day, Sylvia Day, and Jeffrey Day; and stepchildren, Carl Drake III, Eleanor McLear, and Trevor Drake. She is also survived by a brother, R. Ogden Hannaford; sisters, Tayloe Churchill and Priscilla Greeley; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 8 at the House of Hope Presbyterian Church, 797 Summit Ave., St. Paul.
