In 1890 Leo's grandfather, Andrew Sajna immigrated with his wife and infant son from the German-Polish border, farming what is now Shoreview City Hall, Shoreview Commons, and the north shore of Snail Lake. Leo's father, Frank Sinna (Sajna) married Anne Grudnowske, settling on a 40-acre farm adjoining his father's farm, now the site of Shoreview Industrial Park and Shoreview Mall, and raising seven children. He married Mary Elizabeth Mathe in 1945 and started his own masonry construction business, "Leo Sinna, Concrete and Masonry Contractor," pouring basements and laying foundations for many Shoreview and North Oaks homes over the next 30 years. In 1958 Leo purchased 80 acres from his parents, remodeling the barn to house the first Shoreview municipal offices and building the first family home, "The Terrainian." In 1962 he began development on that site of the Shoreview Industrial Park, completing it in 1976. He built a home on the east shore of Turtle Lake in 1954 where he lived until 1998. Leo's favorite pastimes included, fishing, hunting, golf, billiards, poker, blackjack, imitating Bing Crosby, watching western movies, whistling, pontooning around Turtle Lake and enjoying Mary's sauerkraut and spare ribs and a stiff Cutty-seven.
