Trish John Thomas Trish, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, passed away February 4, 2003 in his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Genevieve Trish; aunt, Sal Trish. Survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan Trish; two children, Scott (Laura) Trish, and Sarah (Sean) Fredricks; and one grandson, Samuel John Fredricks. Also survived by stepmother, Sylvia Trish; aunt, Genevieve Gress; uncles, Don Flaten, Reg Wrenn; brothers, Terry (Carol) Trish, Steven Trish, and Pete (Maggie) Reinaas; sisters, Nancy (Frank) Calderon, Barb (Bill) Menner, and Susan (Robert) Reardon; and several nieces and nephews. John was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on August 24, 1947. His family later settled in Albert Lea, Minnesota, where he met his wife, Sue. John was drafted and served for two years in the Army in South Korea during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, John returned to Minnesota and received his degree in City Planning from Mankato State University. His studies spawned a life-long enthusiasm for geography. John was excellent with people andduring his many years of travel as a salesman for Alliance Knives, he befriended many clients and colleagues throughout the U.S., Canada, England, East Asia, and South Africa. At home in Apple Valley, John enjoyed music, history, aviation, and architecture, but he was happiest while spending time with his family, including his dog, Gracie. Family and friends will forever honor John's humility, his quiet strength, his selfless nature, and, above all, his incredible love for his family. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on Monday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Shephard of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley, MN 55124.
