Keenan, Margaret "Peg" (Comer) 1945-2017 Died peacefully on October 9th after a long illness. Peg grew up in Hutchinson MN, received a BA in English Literature at the U of MN, attended medical school at Stanford and the U of MN, and trained as a psychoanalyst at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. She was the first female psychoanalyst in Minnesota. During her 38 year career, Peg was loved and respected as a therapist, supervisor, mentor and teacher. She often lightened (and enlightened) the ponderous subject of psychoanalysis with cartoons and poetry. Her commitments to work, family and community enriched the lives of everyone she touched. She loved to travel especially with her children often by canoe or kayak. In retirement she danced with the inter- generational Kairos Dance Theater and volunteered at Pathways, offering healing poetry and movement (and sometimes work with horses) to the participants. Survived by her sister Laura (Barbara) Comer Emery and children Jessamyn (Vincent Knakal), Ryan and Sean. Peg's family is grateful to North Memorial Hospice for providing comfort and support in her last days. Memorial donations are preferred to Pathways Minneapolis, 3115 Hennepin Ave S, Mpls 55408, Compassion and Choices (www. compassionandchoices.org), or Planned Parenthood. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 28th at 3:00PM in the Sydney Auditorium at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska, MN 55318 washburn-mcreavy.com Nokomis Park 612-721-1651
