Carol S. (Steele) Greenwood

Greenwood, Carol S. (nee Steele) Born 1936 in Illinois. Passed away peacefully in her sleep next to her loving and devoted husband of 48 years on June 26, 2016 after succumbing to her battle with cancer. Preceded in death by parents, Harold and Florence. Survived by husband, Rick; children, Rebecca (Thom) Foss, David (Anne); grandchildren, Khiara, Zachary, Lukas; and her beloved cats. Carol loved her husband, her children, her cats and the environment. Her passion and commitment to a healthy and sustainable future were exemplified by her involvement in multiple organizations that benefitted those she loved, throughout her life. She started her daughter in Girl Scouts in 1974, and continued her own involvement into the 1990s. She supported her son and husband through many years in Y-Guides and Boy Scouts. The multitude of pets she welcomed into her home were adopted from shelters or were "rescue" animals. She was active with Minnesotans for an Energy Efficient Economy (MN E3), Friends of the Mississippi, and multiple Earth Day celebrations. She was a 48-year resident of the Seward Neighborhood, and worked tirelessly on environmental issues that affected that neighborhood as a member of the SNG Environment Committee; from recycling to clean air, clean water, environmental booths for the King's Fair held at Matthews Park, solar panels for Matthews Center, energy efficiency grants for homeowners, and sustainable landscaping. A celebration of Carol's life will be held Tuesday, July 5th at BRADSHAW, 3131 Minnehaha Ave S., Minneapolis with a gathering of friends and family beginning at 4 PM, and a service starting at 7 PM. Interment will be at a later date at Prairie Oaks Memorial Eco-garden. Memorials to the Seward Neighborhood Group: givemn.org/organization/…, Pet Haven: pethavenmn.org/donate/ or Sensible MN: sensible.mn/donate/… be welcome. Bradshaw 612-724-3621
