Ann M. Tonskemper, RN

Tonskemper, Ann M., RN Age 69 of Mpls., died April 23, 2016 of uterine cancer. Preceded in death by parents B.F. "Ben" and Barbara Tonskemper, siblings Brian and Jane Tonskemper. Ann was a practicing nurse for 48 years, most of this time as a public health nurse, first for Anoka Co., then the City of Mpls., Minn. Visiting Nurse Assoc., and most recently, Hennepin Co. She held a BS in nursing and an MA in Business Communications. An exemplary nurse, Ann served her clients and families with competence and caring. Magnanimously forgiving and tolerant of others, she saw humor in all things. For her family, Ann was an advocate and a caregiver, devoted to their well-being, and committed to bettering their lives, always with joy and gladness. Since her passing, stories abound of her help in navigating the health and social services systems, of quiet interventions with those in pain or crisis, and of financial assistance provided with no expectation of return. She saw hers as just an ordinary life. However, those who knew her, knew better. Hers was an extraordinary life. Survived by sister and roommate of 33 years, Gloria "Glo" Tonskemper, sister Paula Tonskemper Viehman, brother Kevin Tonskemper, all of Mpls., sister Susan (John) Tonskemper Proctor of Placerville, CA.; nieces Mary (Nathan) Tonskemper Mickalowski, Anne (Matthew) Tonskemper Rivard, Anna Viehman; nephews Abraham (Tamatha) Proctor, Nikolas (Megan) Proctor, Edwin Viehman; grandnieces, Audrey Markley, Jora Beck, Bailey and Kayley Mickalowski; grandnephews Alexander and Finnegan Proctor; great grandniece Makenna Mickalowski; and numerous cousins.
