Berreau, Alfred James Age 76, of Golden Valley, died in his sleep from congestive heart failure on August 30. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosemary; children, Linda, Shaun, Nick and Misha; grandchildren, Amy (Paul), Stephanie, Melanie and Alex; great-grandchildren, Emma and James Justin; and brothers, Ray and Francis (Edith). He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jay; granddaughter, Christine; and brother, Don (Betty). Al, and his wife Rosemary, moved to Northeast Minneapolis in 1957 from Brewster and Adrian to attend the University of Minnesota School of Architecture where he earned his degree in 1961. His companies A.J. Berreau & Assoc. and E.P.I. specialized in industrial architecture and food processing plants. Al designed many milk, ice cream, and other food plants for such companies as: Marigold Foods, Inc (Kemps), Land O' Lakes, Schwan's, Horizon Organic, Dairyman's Creamery, and Dutch food group Royal Wessanen (American Beverage Corporation) in states across the country including: MN, CA, IN, IA, NY, CT, TX, FL, OH, MD, & PA. He was also involved with projects in China, Holland, Haiti, & Trinidad. Al designed several homes and buildings in Golden Valley, Crosslake, Worthington, Nobles County (Court House), St. Croix, Wisconsin and Playa del Carmen, Mexico, as well as being a former Trustee of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Minneapolis. He was a proud member of AOPA. He was much loved and will be missed by all of us. Al was never happier than when he was in the midst of construction.
