Ross D. Rash

Rash, Ross D. 94, passed away at Cumbernauld Village on April 17, 2024. He was born June 5, 1929, in Gordon, Nebraska, the middle child of Ross Davis and Vera Grace (Cooper) Rash. Upon graduating from the Gordon High School, he attended Chadron State College and graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Engineering with a degree in electrical engineering. Ross and Glendoris Lembke were married on July 15, 1952 in Chadron, Nebraska. They made their home in Bloomington, Minnesota and later Udall and Winfield, Kansas. They also lived in Bisee, Arizona, Saint Paul, Minnesota, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. From the time he was a young boy, Ross delighted in discovering how things worked. As a child this manifested itself in the building of black powder devices, giant kites and radios. This curiosity continued throughout his life and directly affected his career choices. He was a founding group member of Comcet, a company which built mainframe computers, its name was later changed to Comten. Ross was a Master Mason, belonging to Arcania Lodge #195 for 74 years, joining November 24, 1950. In his spare time, he loved tinkering with radios, televisions (once building one from a kit), and computers. He loved music, especially classical and swing. He was an avid reader of history and loved to discuss it with others. He had a dry sense of humor which will be greatly missed. In 1997, Ross and Glennie moved to Udall to live near their daughter and her family, where they enjoyed living in the country. He loved mowing the lawn while listening to his own little private radio station that he had created. They later moved to Cumbernauld Village in Winfield, where they enjoyed being a part of the community. Ross was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two sisters, Janet McKee and Lois Hinton. Survivors include his daughter Kristen McReynolds and husband, Bill of Udall; and his granddaughter Cathlin McReynolds of Kansas City, KS. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., April 30, 2024, at Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. Private burial will take place at Ninnescah Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Ross's name to Cumbernauld Village Employee Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Condolences: milesfuneralservice.com
