Ila Ringkob-Johnson

Ringkob-Johnson, Ila of Minneapolis, MN. Born in Anoka, MN April 21, 1933 to Raymond and Lillyan (Smith) Smith. Died in peace March 21, 2024 at the age of 90 years and 11 months. Preceded in death by parents and first husband George Ringkob; sister-in-law Lorna Erichsen and brother-in-law Tom Eddy. Survived by loving husband Theodore (Tedd) Johnson of over 41 years; son Timothy Ringkob; daughter Leslea Hodgson (Brad); only sister Raeola Eddy; three nieces, Kim, Shawn and Tara; one nephew, Peter; three stepdaughters; Wendy, Tracy and Karen; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and many longtime wonderful friends. Ila graduated from Anoka, MN High School, class of 1951 and Minneapolis Vocational Technical Institute with a degree in Architectural Drafting in 1980, after going back to school when her first husband passed away. She worked for Steve Orfield in office lighting and acoustics design and ultimately in 1987 opened her own business, 'Allumer', (French for 'To Light') where she provided office space planning and lighting design for a successful 8 years. Her work also, included many commercial buildings and condominiums. Ila enjoyed traveling, the arts, museums, painting, design drafting, reading, knitting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and living over 56 years in her only home in South Minneapolis. Ila and Tedd had a condominium at Breezy Point, MN for about 30 years including enjoying a Johnson "Y" Sailboat for about 6 years. They also had a 1970, 27 foot Airstream Travel Trailer for 15 years pulling it over 60,000 miles across the United States and Canada. On retiring, she volunteered over 22 years with Hands and Hearts Estate Sales which included about 40 sales per year, almost every week, and made many wonderful friends. Celebration of Life will be held on the afternoon of Friday, April 26, 2024 at 2 PM, with visitation one hour prior, and reception to follow, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, Edina 7110 France Avenue South, Edina. cremationsocietyofmn.com
