Mary Anne (Hadlick) Hoedeman

Mary Hoedeman, born January 14, 1932, was born into eternal life on February 8 at age 92. A longtime resident of Edina, her greatest joy was her family. As matriarch of a large, loving family, she modeled commitment, loyalty, hospitality and lifelong learning. Always appreciative of other cultures, she, and her husband of 68 years, Fred, traveled around the world several times and inspired a sense of adventure in us all. The family cabin in Minong, WI was a gathering place for 45 years, and where Mary taught many how to fish, how to identify mushrooms, berries and wildflowers, led us in song around the campfire, and instilled a deep gratitude for nature. A talented pianist, Mary shared her gift through the years by teaching, performing on stage, in church, and at community events and with friends and family; we will miss hearing her music and her Steinway will miss her elegant touch. Born in Minneapolis, Mary attended Annunciation grade school, Academy of Holy Angels high school, and continued her studies at St. Catherine University, Université Laval in Québec, and the University of Minnesota where she earned a degree in French and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Elwin and Anne Hadlick, her husband, Fred, and her sister, Rosalie Seidel. Survived by children Paul (Ann) Hoedeman, George (Leah) Hoedeman, Kathy (Tom) Smith, Carla (Bill) Hinkens, Tom (Jasmine) Hoedeman; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at The Church of St. Patrick, 6820 St. Patrick's Ln, Edina, MN 55439 on Friday, February 16, at 10:00 am, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. As a remembrance, Mary requested she be kept in your prayers. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996 West 50th St. & Hwy 100
