Bruce A. Birkeland

Birkeland, Bruce A. When Bruce A. Birkeland, 59, lifelong Minneapolis champion and resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 2, 2023, the world lost some of its captivating charm. He lived life to the fullest with infectious joy and vigor. An adoring husband and cherished Papa. He was a loving, humorous, gritty, and a friend to all. He found infinite joy uniting homes with families over his 35-year realty career. In his personal life, he was a music aficionado, accomplished chef, a true-believer Minnesota sports fan, and a Minneapolis mainstay. He contained multitudes and lived life thoroughly. He will be missed immensely. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Sigvard, and sister Linda Singer. Privileged to carry his legacy are his devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Di, and his beloved sons and daughter-in-law, Dane (Katie) and Soren, all of whom he was incredibly proud of. He is deeply missed by his brother Sigvard (Holly) with children Alek (Dawn), Hans (Kalli), and Berit (Josh), sisters Celeste Birkeland (John Black) and Karin Birkeland (Lee Mitau) with children Birk Mitau and Alida Mitau, and brother-in-law Bruce Singer. He also leaves behind cherished childhood friends as well as hundreds of others who will remember him as a loyal confidant, the life of every party, and generous friend, role-model, brother, and father-figure. A final thank you to the entire care staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital who continuously went above and beyond for Bruce's care. To celebrate his life and his love for those who were lucky enough to know him, services will be held at Central Lutheran Church located at 333 South 12th St., Minneapolis, MN, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 2:00 pm preceded by a visitation at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following: Kenwood Elementary School, Project for Pride in Living, and We Love Lake Street Fund in honor of Bruce Birkeland.
