Erickson, Cheryl Lynn Age 76 of Minneapolis, passed away on April 22, 2023. Preceded in death by parents - V. Laurie Peterson and Ardis Peterson. Survived by sons, Ross (Heather) & Ryan Erickson; grandchildren Vivian, Emily and Nathan Erickson; brothers Bruce Peterson and Steven Peterson (AnnMarie); her lovable beagle Bijou. Cheryl grew up in N.E. Minneapolis, attended Minnehaha Academy and then Augsburg University earning a degree in Sociology. She dedicated over 40 years to Early Childhood Education as a passionate educator, enriching the lives of young children. Cheryl would often be recognized by former students (now as adults) who would stop to tell her the impact she had on their lives. At home, she was an avid reader, writer of poems, book collector, lover of a wide variety of music, art, the outdoors and gardens, an expert at scrabble, crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. All of which she shared with her beloved grandchildren. Cheryl was truly a "dog person", she volunteered at the Animal Humane Society and adopted rescue dogs. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humor, being a dedicated friend to many, and most importantly, as a kind and selfless soul who always put others first. A Memorial service will be held on June 15th at 11a.m. with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. at Salem Covenant Church, 2655 Fifth St NW, New Brighton MN 55112.
