DuBose, William Steven "Steve" Age 68 of South Holland, IL passed away on December 2, 2022, at the University of Chicago Hospital after a brief illness.

Steve was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Robyn; and sons Montana DuBose of South Holland, IL and Dallas Thiele (Erin) of Lisle, IL.

Steve was a doting grandfather to Imogen and Jude and proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Survived by siblings Ken (Pam) of Eden Prairie, MN; David (Ruth) of Bloomington, MN; Desiree Latham (Kevin) of Dallas, TX; step-mother Deanna of Hayesville, NC.

Pre-deceased by father William Clifford, mother Beverly (Lybrand) and step-father Kenneth Edmunds.

Steve was born in Redwood City, CA on 9/28/54 but grew up in Richfield and was a 1972 graduate of Richfield High School. Growing up, he was an avid ice and street hockey player and loved to ski, hunt and fish.

Steve attended the University of Minnesota and then worked with his step-father in the furniture and lighting business (K & R Sales) including helping to start Cuddlebug Co. a large midwest manufacturer of bean bag chairs in the 1970s. For several years, the bean bag chairs were assembled at the Gold Medal Flour building on the river front in downtown Minneapolis where many employees were friends of Steve from his Aldrich Avenue neighborhood and high school. No one who ever worked in that building will ever forget riding the man lifts to the upper floors to dump the styrofoam beads into the grain silos which were used to then fill the bean bag chairs.

In the early 1980s, Steve worked with his brother Ken at Courier Dispatch in downtown Minneapolis.  After a few years, Steve agreed to transfer to Chicago to run the operation there. Eventually, he started his own courier service (Air Chicago) which he ran for over 20 years before retiring.

Steve loved his family, a good Gray Goose martini, the Minnesota Vikings, the Lamont Cranston Band (many epic Saturday nights at the Cabooze bar in Minneapolis), travel and his motorcycles. He always enjoyed giving back and faithfully participated in the "Toys for Tots" annual Chicago Motorcycle Run and supported other Chicago area charities.
