Limburg, Mark Peter died peacefully on November 15, 2022, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Mark was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on April 25, 1963, to James and Martha (Ylvisaker) Limburg. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Mark graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, majoring in history and philosophy. He continued his studies in music theory and piano tuning at the University of Minnesota and MacPhail School of Music. Throughout his life, Mark served the church through music and was a member of Como Park Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. He also played guitar and keyboard for many other congregations in the Twin Cities area, often accompanied by highly talented friends and colleagues. Beyond his frequent contributions to worship services, Mark headlined concerts at the Mall of America's holiday stage and played at other prestigious regional and international venues. Mark routinely shared his own musical perspectives by performing original arrangements of both religious hymns and secular songs. His published compositions have been distributed and utilized widely by musicians around the country. During his final days, Mark was working on a new project for which he had hoped to complete with a special dedication to his grandfathers: "To Stanley Limburg, who taught me to play, and to J. W. Ylvisaker, who taught me to pray". Besides his dedication to giving older hymns new life, Mark was an active and sought-after pianist and guitarist, including a summer tour with David Soul and his band across England as one of his many professional accomplishments. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father James Limburg, and his uncle James Ylvisaker. He is survived by his mother Martha Limburg, his sister Kristi (Limburg) Berkland (Dan), his brothers David (Laura) Limburg and Paul (Cora) Limburg, and nieces Mara Berkland, Elin Limburg and Laney Limburg, and nephews Kai Limburg and Ben Limburg. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts, Peter and Susan Limburg and Mary (Limburg) and Glenn Payne, and his cousins. A family service of remembrance will be held in July in Longville, MN.
