Tapp, Dr. Robert B. 97, died in Manhattan on November 26. Born in Hollywood to Charles Tapp and Ora Mae Berg, he earned his BA and PhD from the University of Southern California. Dr. Tapp was professor of philosophy of religion, Meadville/Lombard Theological School, affiliated with the University of Chicago (1964-72); professor of humanities and religious studies, University of Minnesota (1972-94); and dean, The Humanist Institute (1995-2005). Post-retirement, he taught many humanities courses at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Judith D. Wallach; his daughters Mara Tapp and Kami Olsson-Tapp (Mark Olsson); his step-children Amy Halpern-Laff, Steven Halpern, and Diane Wallach; and his grandchildren Kira Olsson-Tapp, Ariella Silverstein-Tapp, Grant Silverstein, and Chase Olsson. Dr. Tapp was a lifelong humanist and advocate of anti-racism and anti-militarism. Memorials to American Humanist Association. A celebration will be held in the spring in Minneapolis.
