Hansen, Steven "Steve" Millard Passed away at home August 19, 2022 at the age of 75 in St. Louis Park, MN, surrounded by family. Despite his rapidly failing health, he still managed to make those around him laugh and feel his love as we said our goodbyes in the final days. Steve was born in International Falls and grew up in St. Louis Park. He traveled extensively in the US on his motorcycle, joined the Peace Corps and met his wife as they worked in Thailand. They earned Master's degrees at the University of Illinois (Urbana) and then spent almost three years in Algeria, working and traveling in Europe. They returned to Minnesota and started a family, raising two daughters with patience and devotion. He cared for his parents Keith and Dorie Hansen, in their final years, and was active in his church. After retiring, Steve continued to be an involved resident of SLP, joining the Police Advisory Commission and acting as an election judge, and writing his memoirs for his daughters and grandsons to enjoy. Steve was always up for a fishing trip, a walk with the dog, a cold glass of beer, a new book, or a good conversation. He had a smart sense of humor and a strong sense of what was right and wrong. He was always willing to help another person, and walked a fine line between realism and optimism. He brought so much light and happiness to his family and will be missed. He leaves behind his wife Adele, daughters Maria (Steve) Lewis, and Jenny (Brian) Metzger, and grandsons Teddy, Duncan, Kaiden, and Quinn. Services will be held October 9th at 2pm at the First Unitarian Society in Minneapolis.
