Roger William Carlson

Carlson, Roger William Born on December 5, 1931, to William and Lillian Carlson, Minneapolis, he lived his 90 years of life with distinction, dedication and devotion to his family, his community, his college, and his profession. A proud alumnus of University High School and Gustavus Adolphus College. He married his college sweetheart Janet in 1954. After graduation he had a brief moment of fame playing for the Green Bay Packers and then proudly served in the US Army as a Counter Intelligence Agent. He combined adventure and character development into his passions of mountain skiing, boundary water canoeing, hydroplane boat racing, and coaching little league football. He was a skilled canoe and boat builder and taught Swedish flat-plane carving. He served on boards for church, YMCA, and Bethesda Hospital. His beloved college honored him as a Distinguished Alumnus and inducted him into the Gustavus Athletic Hall of Fame. He proudly served on the Board of Trustees at Gustavus for ten years. Roger's 38-year professional career was in Logistics. He served on the Board of the American Warehouseman's Association and later as its chairman. He was president of the Ohio Warehouse Association and was inducted into the Council of Logistics Management's Leadership Hall of Fame. Preceded in death by his sister Lorraine. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Janet, and family; children Kristin (Gordon) Vlasak, Bradley (Mary), Steven, and Douglas (Jennifer). Grandchildren Susan, Andrew, Alysa, Nicholas, Erik, Jacob, and Grace. Great-grandchildren Emma, Miles, and Baylor. A Visitation at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 2025 Knox Ave South, Minneapolis, on Monday, August 15th at 10am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11am, with a luncheon that follows. Memorials to Mt.
