Hesse, Philomena "Puggy" "Phil" passed away in Hopkins, Minnesota on July 21, 2022 at the age of 94. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2914 West 44th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55410 The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church from 10AM to 11AM. Lunch will be provided following the Mass. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55450 on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 11:30 AM. Phil is predeceased by her husband, Bernard C. Hesse; son, Thomas Hesse; granddaughter Anna Boettcher; parents, Bernard and Margaret Fritz; sisters Mary Gaffin, Rita Eldridge, Judy Kerber and brothers Father Peter Fritz and Philip Fritz. Phil is lovingly remembered by her children Kathleen Hesse (the late Blase Boettcher), Timothy Hesse (Kathleen), Bernard Hesse Jr. (Vickie), David Hesse (Deanna) and Robert Hesse (Jennifer); her brother David Fritz (Lili) and sister Kay Fritz-Cooper; 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Phil was born in Chaska, Minnesota. She attended Guardian Angels Grade and High School there. She became a registered nurse after attending the nursing program at St. Mary's Hospital/St. Catherine's College in the Twin Cities. She worked at St. Mary's and Abbott-Northwestern Hospitals in Minneapolis. After retiring from Abbott-Northwestern, she later served as a volunteer school nurse at Christ the King- St. Thomas grade school among many other volunteer activities. Phil enjoyed gardening, cheering on or yelling at the Minnesota Twins, traveling (Germany, India, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Singapore, Belgium, Hawaii, Portugal, Poland and others) and living her faith in all she did. She was joyful to the end with a positive attitude that inspired those around her. Phil will be missed by all. Thank you to the wonderful staff at The Glenn Hopkins Memory Care unit for their superb care for Phil during the past 4 years. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
