Walter Frank Broich, III

Walter Frank Broich III of Naples FL, formerly of Edina, passed away April 7, 2022, of natural causes. At his home in his wife Darci’s arms. He was born to Walter F. Broich II and Rita Bellew Broich on December 3, 1941. Walter is preceded in death by his grandparents; Walter F. Broich and Rose (Keim) Broich, Raymond E. Bellew and Alma (Tisdale) Bellew. His parents; Walter F. Broich II and Rita (Bellew) Broich. Sister-in-law; Alice Broich. Stepson; Mark McCall. Daughter-in-law; Elizabeth Broich. Nephew; Nicholas Licata. Grandnephew; Cole Licata.

Walter grew up in St. Louis Park, St. Paul and Edina MN. He attended St. Thomas Academy. After graduation from Edina High School, he joined the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, where he excelled as a Rifle Instructor and expert Marksman. Upon his honorable discharge he was hired as a factory rep for Dexter Shoes out of Dexter Maine. Like the long line of salesmen in his bloodline he could sell ice cubes in the Artic’s. He loved traveling his territory to visit his clientele whom most became lifelong friends. Walter created the original products for his business Arctic Air Co. He loved the challenge of starting a new company from scratch and then watching his son, Walt IV take it to the moon.

Walter was successful at business but also wore many hats with his hobbies and adventures. He logged over 3,000 hours in his float plane. Yachted to St. Barts for the millennium new year. Skied, had an exotic ranch in Texas, hunted and fished the world over. Sampled great wines worldwide. He had very dear friends all over the world. Was involved in Safari Club International (SCI) locally and internationally. Proud member of the local chapter of “The Society of Amateur Chef’s”. Ducks Unlimited. He will be remembered for his generous nature, creative one- liners, infectious laugh, “Walter Word- isams” and his gentle heart. He was a true patriot.

Walter is survived by his wife; Darci Jo (Johnson) Broich. His children whom he loved; Son, Walt Broich IV, Stepfamily; Jeff (Tracy) McCall, Dale (McCall) Smith (Randy), Mary (Tony) Hinton, George and Brian McCall. Siblings; Tuck Broich, Bob (Jean) Broich, Susan Licata. Nieces and Nephews; Nicole (Licata) Jones, Jessie (Reed) Bergman, Max (Sarah) Broich, Carryn (Justin) Schram, Kelly (Amy) Broich, Michael (Carolyn) Broich. 9 grandchildren; Hayden, Joe, Tyler, Garret, Miles, Casey, Taylor, Carl and Michael. Darci’s parents; Richard & Shirley Johnson, Inlaws: Terri (Mark) Poindexter, Judi (David) Goedtel, Patti (John) Kasper, Rich (Steph) Johnson, Traci (Nick) Lardy. Nieces and Nephews; Emilie (Ian) Knox, Kevin (Kristine) Poindexter, Heather Goedtel, Kyle Goedtel, Danial (Jenn) Kasper, Anthony Kasper, Kayla Lardy, Allison Lardy, Jayden and Jaxon Johnson.
