Fallat, Robert "Bob" of Minnetonka, MN passed away peacefully on December 30, 2021, wrapped in the love of his family and many friends. Born Sept. 3, 1939, in Astoria, Queens, NY, he grew up in Paramus, NJ. After graduating Hackensack High School, Bob joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1958 to 1962 where he led radar maintenance for B-47 bombers and KC-97 tankers. Bob attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and met Rosalie Hoffman. They married and moved to Minnesota where they raised their children - Jennifer and Steve. Bob was remarried in 1993 to Judy Robinson in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. After working briefly for Control Data, Bob and three partners started a company pioneering computerized medical information systems. In 2003 Bob graduated from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities with a master's degree in Religion and Theology. From 2004 to 2014 Bob was Director of Volunteer Programs at The Family Place, a St. Paul day shelter for homeless families. Bob was committed to serving others and did so tirelessly - mission trips to Rosebud Indian Reservation; youth missions to northern MN and Minneapolis; serving meals and overnight volunteering at Simpson Shelter. He encouraged others in their faith journey, serving on many Unidos en Cristo (Cursillo) and Charis Prison Ministry teams. At Minnetonka UMC, Bob was instrumental in starting the Jazz Worship Service, and co-led many Bible study classes that changed lives. Bob was a fun-loving man of many interests - trains, planes, and automobiles, photography, math, and science to name a few. He loved being at ground zero for Excelsior's July 4th fireworks. Bob adored his family, and they adored him. Sharing his insatiable curiosity and love of life was a joy for all. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Julia Fallat, and infant brother, Andrew. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Jennifer (John) O'Connor; son, Steve (Coreen) Fallat; sister, Susan (Doug) MacAulay; and grandchildren, Riley and Darby O'Connor, and Lucas and Andrew Fallat. The memorial service is Sat., Jan. 29, 2022, 11 AM with visitation at 10 AM at Minnetonka United Methodist Church, Minnetonka. Live streaming from 10:40 on the church website under Worship. COVID precautions will be carefully observed. Interment and an outdoor gathering will occur in the summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Simpson Housing Services, Mpls., or New Life in Christ Ministry, Clearwater, MN (a re-entry ministry), or the MUMC Pastor's Discretionary Fund for Emergency Care.
