Sell, Jackson H. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor to many, Jack Sell passed away on December 26 at age 85. He died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family. Jack was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, on July 17, 1936. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering and met his wife, Susan. He then graduated from Harvard Business School. Jack held executive roles at Butler Manufacturing, King-Seeley Thermos and Twin City Barge. He spent the last decades of his career as a group chair with Vistage International (formerly TEC), a peer mentoring organization for CEOs, senior executives and business owners. He was also an informal mentor to many. Jack retired at age 81. An accomplished trumpeter in his younger days, he had a particular fondness for jazz. He loved the water and spent many happy hours boating on Lake Minnetonka, often pulling children and grandchildren on water skis. Jack was a parishioner at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Minneapolis and a longtime member of Christians in Commerce. In recent years he volunteered as a team captain with Mobile Loaves and Fishes, which delivers food to needy families. He and Susan celebrated 62 years of marriage last August. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Julie and Marcia (Edgar); sons Steve (Molly) and Jeff (Glenda); and eight grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Lillian Sell, and brother Roy Sell. There will be a funeral service for immediate family at St. Joan of Arc in January. A Celebration of Life for extended family and friends will be held next summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mobile Loaves and Fishes in care of St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. So., Minneapolis, MN 55419.
